Who is Khatu Shyam Baba?

Origin in Mahabharata

Khatu Baba was known as Barbarik in the Mahabharata era. Grandson of Bhima and son of Ghatotkach, blessed with divine powers

The Boon of Khatu Baba

Barbarik donated his head to Lord Krishna during the Mahabharata war. Krishna blessed him to be worshipped as Khatu Shyam in Kaliyug.

The Miracle of the Cow

Barbarik’s head was buried in Khatu village. A cow’s milk miraculously flowed over the spot, revealing the divine site.

Divine Dream of the King

Lord Krishna instructed the Khatu king in a dream to unearth the head. The king built the Khatu Shyam Temple, now a famous spiritual site.
